Document: draft-ietf-dna-simple-16.txt Reviewer: Brian Carpenter Review Date: 2010-08-13 IETF LC End Date: 2010-08-24 IESG Telechat date: (if known) Summary: Almost ready -------- Note - I previously reviewed versions 09 and 11, and my only comment on them has been fixed. There's nothing in the technical changes since version 11 that seems unreasonable. I do, however, worry a bit whether these changes are backed up by experience with prototype code, given the complexity and the number of possible contingencies. We don't require running code for Proposed Standard status, so I can't make this a 'major issue'. Major issues: ------------- None Minor issues: ------------- 2.1. Goals The goal of this document is to specify a simple procedure for detecting network attachment (Simple DNA) that has the following characteristics. ... o False positives are not acceptable. A host MUST NOT wrongly conclude that it has reattached to a previouly visited network. o False negatives are acceptable. A host MAY fail to identify a previously visited link correctly and attempt to acquire fresh addressing and configuration information. In my opinion it is not meaningful to use RFC 2119 keywords in a list of design goals. The keywords are intended to qualify protocol elements. The goals quoted above should use lower case.
